The Olds Splash Park is closed for the season.
"Sometimes we have to admit defeat and throw in a towel," the town's Facebook page says. "Band-aid options are just not a solution when it comes to our Splash Park."
"Extensive repairs need to take place and unfortunately this means the Splash Park will be closed for the
remainder of the 2019 season."
"The holding tank has collapsed, and it was determined that extensive repairs will need to take place to ensure the Splash Park is ready to go for the 2020 season."
"We are still investigating options for a permanent solution to the splash park repair. The focus is on fixing and replacing the holding tank unit to ensure it is winter safe and totally operational for 2020 and beyond."
But town officials note there is still a chance to indulge in free swimming.
Free swimming will be offered during August on Mondays and Fridays from 4 – 5:30 p.m. as well as Tuesdays and Thursday from 1- 4 p.m.
"The Town is as disappointed as you are and we apologize for the inconvenience," the Facebook post says.
Earlier, Monica Leatherdale, the town’s communications coordinator, confirmed that the splash park was closed as of June 19 “due to an operating system (tank) failure.”
Back in April 2016, the splash park was closed while Park N Play, the company that built it, re-poured the concrete pad to fix drainage issues.
The splash park officially opened in July 2015.
Several people have posted messages supportive of the town and its splash park difficulties.
