CARSTAIRS-CREMONA-DIDSBURY - The local sports scene is very busy with past games and games coming up.
BASKETBALL: High school basketball season starts this week with games Tuesday evening at both Didsbury High School and Hugh Sutherland School (HSS) in Carstairs. Didsbury High Dragons varsity girls host Bert Church from Airdrie in exhibition play at 5:30 p.m., while the HSS Kodiak junior varsity (JV) boys and girls host their Olds High School counterparts starting at 5:30 p.m. Amber Pedlar returns to coach the HSS JV girls and is excited for another season. "It's looking very positive," said Pedlar. "We have a great group of girls with love for the game and a desire to learn. I can't predict the future but I believe it looks bright and I am excited to see what's in store for us."
HOCKEY: The Didsbury Ramblers atoms hosted an eight-team tournament recently with both atom teams winning their respective divisions. The Tier 2 Atom Ramblers beat Indus 3-2 in a close final after beating Camrose 11-1 and Kneehill 13-1 in earlier games. The Tier 5 Atom Ramblers knocked off Airdrie 8-7 in their final. In earlier games, the Tier 5 Atom Ramblers beat Calmar 15-3 and Cochrane 8-2.
CURLING: The Cremona Community Club held its annual Cremona Open Mixed Bonspiel from Nov. 16 to 24. The bonspiel consisted of 16 local mixed teams with players ranging in age from 13 to 78.
