Fresh off their victory over the Lethbridge Barracudas, the Olds Junior B Tier III Stingers beat the Calgary Wranglers 18-3 on May 6 at the Olds Sports Complex. The Stingers are now unbeaten in games they have played this season, moving their record to 3-0. Olds won its first scheduled game by default.Calgary opened scoring with two goals less than two minutes into the game from Carson Reinhardt and Nathan Livingston. But Olds responded by scoring five in the first period, including two goals less than 30 seconds apart. Many Stingers padded their stats with both captain Brent Beukeboom and Lee McDonald recording hat tricks.Cale Brown had six points that night, two of them goals.Dexter Hebert also tallied five points.“It was a good game. Boys played well. We had a lot of offence,” said Stingers coach Gary Gaudette. “They ironed out the bugs from the first game. They started playing their game.”Gaudette credited ball movement to his team's offensive outburst.“Got the ball rotating around and started putting them in the net,” he said. The only concern the coach had was complacency.“Just after a big win like that you don't want them to pick up any bad habits.”[email protected]
