The Olds junior B Stingers had an easy time dispatching the Medicine Hat Sun Devils at the Olds Sports Complex on June 22.But the team knows they have a difficult road ahead.Although the 16-8 victory against Medicine Hat gave the Stingers a 9-3 record for the season so far, the team is still in second place in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League behind the High River Heat.Keifer Olsen, the Stingers' netminder who allowed only one goal in the last period of play against the Sun Devils while his teammates added six goals to the board, said his squad was firing on all cylinders during the match.“The team was really clicking. Had a bit of a slow first period but once we got going and making the plays we had to, it started clicking for us,” he said.He added he and his teammates are well aware of the “tough” challenge of catching the Heat.“They're a good all-around team, they play a good all-around game, so it's just we got to bring our A-game when we're playing them.”Olsen, who is playing his third year with the Stingers, said the team cannot afford a single loss as it enters the home stretch of the season since their last home game is against High River on July 13.The Stingers' next game is July 6 in Calgary against the Wranglers and the team's next home game is on July 8 against the Calgary Axemen–Mavericks.Olds will also host the league's provincial playoff tournament on the weekend of July 18 to [email protected]
