Local throwing athlete Haylin Eling closed out her first indoor season at the Alberta Indoor Track and Field Championships with some strong results.
The meet was held March 9-10 in Edmonton.
On Saturday, March 9 Eling threw 10.95 metres (m) and barely missed out on medalling, finishing in fourth place.
She ended the shot put indoor season ranked 13th in Canada and third in Alberta for U-18 competitors.
On Sunday, March 10, Eling placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 12.13 m — her third best throw of the year.
She ended the indoor weight throw season ranked 13th in Canada and second in Alberta among U-18 competitors.
"The purpose of her indoor season this year has been to prepare her for the outdoor season," coach Rachel Andres says.
"She has made great gains in her technique, and I am expecting her to do very well this coming outdoor season. Outdoor season doesn’t start until May for her, so she has a bit of break before competitions start happening every weekend."
