Two members of the Olds High School wrestling team had great results during their first wrestling meet.

Bryer Brertton got a bronze medal in the 83-kilogram class, which featured 10 wrestlers. Bella Cranston finished fourth out of nine wrestlers in the 57-kilogram class.

The tournament was held Jan. 27-28 in Edmonton.

Spartan wrestling coach George Grant was impressed with both of them.

"Bryer did a really good job," Grant told the Albertan, noting he wrestled four times during the tournament. "He really impressed us and a number of other coaches on his work ethic."

Grant was also amazed by Cranston.

"In her first match, she had scored five points and was up 5-1 against another novice wrestler," Grant said. "Both for Bella and her opponent it was the very first wrestling competition that they'd been in and their very first match of that competition.

"For this being the very first competition she'd ever been in I thought she did a really good job."
