The Olds High School girls' and boys' basketball teams finished well in the Spartan Classic, their own home tournament, on the weekend.

The girls finished second, losing to Bow Valley High of Cochrane in a hard fought battle.

They hammered Innisfail 64-29 and edged W.H. Croxford of Airdrie 60-58.

"This was was a very exciting, gritty performance by the girls," head coach Brad Clapp says.

The boys finished third, slamming Canmore 82 - 58.

Cochrane High finished first in that tournament, downing W.H. Croxford.

Head coach Brad Clapp says that performance, plus a strong showing against Bow Valley should "help us improve our ranking in the zone."

"Unfortunately team captain and senior player, Richelle Reeve, suffered what appears to be a season-ending knee injury during the Croxford game," Clapp said in an email to the Albertan. "Her leadership and ability will be sorely missed."
