The Alberta junior men's curling team, which features two brothers from Olds, finished the championship round of the Canadian Junior Men's championship with a record of 2-5.

Lead Colton Goller, 21, and his brother Kurtis Goller, 19, who served as second, qualified for the Nationals after winning the Alberta Junior Men's championship earlier this month in Edmonton.

They finished with a 4-2 record in Pool A of the round robin portion of the tournament.

The Nationals were held Jan. 21-28 in Esquimalt, B.C., a suburb of Victoria.

Other members of the team are third Tyler Lautner of Calgary, lead Nick Rabl of Lethbridge and coach Jim Lautner of Calgary.

The Tyler Tardi rink of B.C. won the final, beating the Matthew Hall rink of Ontario 9-7 and will be heading to the Youth Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Team Alberta will still have representation in the Youth Winter Olympics because Rabl was named to the Tardi rink as an alternate.

He curled 87 per cent during the championships and was named to the first all star team. In addition, he won the Ken Watson Sportsmanship Award.

Goller could not be reached for comment on the Nationals by press time.
