The 65th annual Water Valley Stampede Foothills Cowboy Association rodeo last weekend enjoyed great completion and excellent weather.

Hilary Haun, rodeo secretary with the association, said this year’s rodeo held June 1-3 included the first time addition of cowboys and cowgirls from the Chinook Rodeo Association from southern Alberta.

“The Foothills Cowboy Association is our mother association but now we are dual approved with Chinook, so we had a bunch of new cowboys and cowgirls this year,” said Haun.

Unlike in some recent years, this year’s Water Valley rodeo enjoyed clear and dry weather throughout.

“It was great rodeo and a great turnout,” she said. “It didn’t rain at all during the events.”

As always, the many volunteers involved in putting on the rodeo made things possible, she said.

“We have so many of them. Everyone comes together,” she said.

Slack was held on Friday and main events on Saturday and Sunday.
