Ag board approves funding for five projects

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - The county’s agricultural service board (ASB) has approved funding for five environmental enhancement projects in various districts in the municipality.

The move came by way of motion at the board’s recent regularly scheduled meeting, held in council chambers.

The board approved funding for 100 per cent of the material costs to a maximum of $5,000 for 1,197 metres of new creek fencing on a property on the Fallen Timber Creek at E 03-31-05-W5. 

The project will help support 25 cow/calf pairs. 

The board also approved an additional $4,287 in annual payments for the maintenance of the project.

The board approved funding for 75 per cent of material costs to a maximum of 42,040 for the wetland fencing and 75 per cent of the riparian planting material costs to a maximum of $753 on a parcel on a tributary to the Little Red Deer River at SE 01-32-05-W5.

The project will help support 30 cow/calf pairs and involves 553 metres of fencing.

Additionally, the board approved $795 of annual payments for the maintenances of the project.

The board approved funding for 50 per cent of the material costs to a maximum of $5,000 for a watering system project on the Little Red Deer River at SE 02-33-04-W5 and an additional $1,792 to annual payments for the maintenance of the project, which will help support 15 cow/calf pairs.

The board approved 50 per cent funding of a portable solar watering system to a maximum of $5,000 on a parcel on the Lone Pine Creek/Ten Mile Creek at NE 34-31-28-W5. The project will help support 100 cow/calf pairs.

The board also approved funding for 75 per cent of material costs to a maximum of $5,000 for 1,197 metres of new fencing on a parcel on a tributary of the Dogpound Creek at NE 32-29-03-W5. 

The project will help support 45 cow/calf pairs.

The board also approved $3,130 for annual payments for maintenance of the project.
