MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY — The county’s municipal planning commission has approved a development permit for an office and a garage at the Rosewood Resort south of Sundre.
The move came by way of motion at a recent, regularly scheduled meeting, held in person and on Zoom.
The accessory buildings - office and garage permit is for the property west of Highway 760 immediately south of Doyle Drive, at SE 21-32-5-5.
The $30,000 proposed accessory building - office is 560 square feet and is a ready-to-move structure that will be located south of an existing RV lot, commission members heard.
“It will be placed along the southern property boundary,” administration said in a briefing note. “This building will be used as an office for the guests at Rosewood.”
The office will be a single storey structure with piling foundation with the intent that the office will be movable. It will be supplied with electricity but not sewer system, kitchen or washroom.
The garage will be 1,600 square feet with a roof peaked at 17 feet.
“It is being proposed to be built on the south side of the existing shop. It will be used for personal/business use related to the maintenance and upkeep of the resort,” administration said.
“The applicant has indicated that the garage will be placed so that it cannot be seen from Doyle Drive as the garage is smaller and lower than the existing pole barn to which it is adjacent to.”
The approval comes with a number of conditions, including that the applicant will “maintain a non-intrusive business and preserve the privacy and enjoyment of adjacent properties” and that the applicant will “obtain a roadside development permit from Alberta Transportation for both accessory buildings.”
The MPC is made up of county councillors and appointed members of the public. It is the municipality’s approving authority.
