MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - The driver of a pickup truck involved in a two-vehicle collision with a semi on Highway 27 east of Sundre last week is facing two charges, say police.
A semi tractor trailer and a pickup truck pulling a utility trailer collided on Highway 27 near Range Road 44 at approximately 3 p.m.
“The investigation revealed that the westbound pickup truck was negotiating a left hand turn from Highway 27 but abandoned the turn without warning,” said Sundre RCMP detachment commander Sgt. Trent Sperlie.
“This resulted in the pickup truck pulling in front of the semi tractor trailer, that was travelling the same direction, causing the semi tractor trailer to collide with the pickup truck and push it into the ditch.
There were no injuries to either driver and both vehicles sustained significant damage, he said.
The 63 year-old driver of the pickup truck, who has not been named by police, has been charged with failing to signal a turn contrary to Section 24 of the Use of Highway and Rules of the Road Regulation and failing to yield the right of way contrary to Section 34(1) of the Use of Highway and Rules of the Road Regulation.
Each ticket comes with a voluntary payment option of $162.
