Fog advisory issued for Mountain View County, nearby urban centres

Fog is expected to persist until late Wednesday morning, Environment Canada forecasts

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Environment and Climate Change Canada (Environmemt Canada) issued a fog advisory for Mountain View County and nearby urban centres Tuesday evening.

"Near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring," a 7:52 p.m. alert update from the federal agency for the area said.

A special weather statement was issued Tuesday evening for Mountain View County and nearby urban centres including Carstairs, Cremona, Olds, Didsbury and Sundre.

"Patchy areas of dense fog has formed over the region and is expected to become more widespread overnight. The fog is expected to persist until late Wednesday morning. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations," the alert said.

Fog advisories are issued when near zero visibilities in fog are expected or occurring.
