Fog advisory issued Sunday for Mountain View County down to U.S. border

Environment and Climate Change Canada said fog would dissipate by noon on March 16 but freezing drizzle also possible

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a fog advisory for Mountain View County and nearby urban centres Sunday morning.

“Dense fog formed early this morning in southern Alberta. Freezing drizzle is also possible in these regions, causing slippery conditions. Fog will dissipate by noon,” the federal agency’s 9:06 a.m. March 16 spacial weather statement said.

The advisory included Mountain View County near Olds. Didsbury, Carstairs, Cremona Water Valley and Sundre.

The advisory was also issued for Rocky View County and municipalities south of it down to the U.S. border.

“Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations,” the alert said. “If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.”
