MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY- Residents and visitors in the Water Valley area on Mountain View County's southwest boundary are being advised of debris burning set to get underway next week as part of an ongoing fire prevention project.

In a release issued Monday, the county said a logging company will begin burning piles from the ongoing logging project in the W 1/2 27-29-5 W5M area near Water Valley.

“This work is part of the initiative approved by council to reduce fire hazards and align with FireSmart principles,” officials said. “We are proactively notifying the community, as there may be visible smoke in the area.

“Please be assured that the logging company will have preventative measures in place, including constant monitoring of the burn sites to ensure safety and minimize any risks. Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve fire safety in the region.”

Anyone with questions or concerns is being asked to contact the county’s agriculture services manager at 403-335-3311 ext. 117.
