MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – Mountain View Seniors' Housing (MVSH), which owns and operates seniors’ facilities in the region, has set out and released its 2020 budget management strategies.

“We recognize there is uncertainty in our world and in our economy so we feel the best plan for MVSH is to simply focus on organization and operations stability by focusing on doing the basics as best we can,” said CAO Sam Smalldon.

“Our primary goal at MVSH is to enhance the lives of seniors who reside with us by providing a home for them in our communities. We achieve this goal by minimizing risks for residents, staff and facilities.”

The budget management principles for 2020 include a commitment to “solid governance and oversight," ensuring “quality and effective care and service delivery are maintained," ensuring residents “reside in a homelike environment by providing maintenance, security and facility management for these risks," ensuring that care delivery costs “stay within AHS contract funding in order to balance every year,” and “review prices and to set our revenues to cover our costs while continually seeking efficiencies wherever possible.”

The budget management strategies and plans for 2020 include continuing to “review and manage hours worked at each site to ensure there is optimum alignment with resident needs and funding," continue the review of “administrative costs, including our use of systems and technology to ensure we are cost effective without adding risk or losing effectiveness," and continuing to review “our facility maintenance programs for all campuses and sites for the best cost-effective methods in managing our facilities and minimizing risks.”

“These strategies are very consistent measures with prior years,” he said. “Our goal is to be open and transparent so when you ask questions, we appreciate this as an opportunity to respond and clarify.”

A copy of the MVSH budget management strategies for 2020 was recently sent to area municipalities, including the Village of Cremona, for councillor information.
