MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - The fuel system at the Mountain View County-owned Olds-Didsbury Airport is down due to a payment system failure and is expected to be off-line for an extended period of time, says Chris Atchison, the county's director of legislative services.
“We are working diligently to resolve this issue, but anticipate the system will be down for an extended period of time,” said Atchison. “We are evaluating how long of a period it will be down for. We expect it will likely be a couple of weeks while we procure the equipment needed for the repairs.”
There are no plans to have a temporary fuelling system put in place at the Olds-Didsbury Airport, located off Highway 2A between Olds and Didsbury.
“We have fuel located at the (county-owned) Sundre Airport for pilots that are looking for a local solution, and there are a number of other airports in the vicinity that could be utilized by pilots as well,” he said.
“It is not abnormal to have repairs or maintenance to the fuel system that would require alternative fuelling arrangements.”
The county is working with a contractor on the system repair, he said.
“We are not aware of any aircraft that would be stranded at the airport (for lack of fuel),” he said.
