MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Two Division 4 residents have filed nomination papers to run in the October byelection in Division 4 in Mountain View County, officials said Wednesday.
The deadline for nominations was noon Sept. 18.
Sean LaBrie and Tiffany Nixon have filed nomination papers with the county. The submissions will not become official until Thursday at noon.
The byelection is being held to replace first-term councillor Gord Krebs, who submitted his resignation on Aug. 13.
Council voted on Aug. 28 to have the byelection on Oct. 16, with advanced polls on Oct. 9 and Oct. 10.
Electors in the byelection will need to be 18 years of age, a resident of Alberta, and live in Division 4 on election day, said Chris Atchison, director of legislative service.
Division 4 serves Elkton/Rugby, Westcott, parts of Fallentimber, Bergen, Harmattan and Westerdale.
The election is the first in the current council term, which ends in October 2025.
