1948 - 2025
Verna Christina Bauer passed away April 22, 2025, in the Ponoka Centennial Centre at the age of 95. She was born May 14, 1929, at Stony Plain, AB to parents Henry and Mary Ducholke. On Nov 19, 1948, she married Arthur Walter Bauer from Torrington, AB.
They lived on the family farm and raised 5 children: 4 Daughters: Sandra (Don), triplet daughters: Anita (Clarence), Annette (Bill) and Audrey and 1 Son: Brad (Glenda), and was proud grandma to 13 grandchildren and great grandma to 26 great grandchildren.
Art & Verna farmed and retired and moved to Olds. Throughout her life Verna was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Torrington Ladies Group, the Senior Silver Willows Group and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Mom was well known to her family for her sewing skills, and the best cook especially for her homemade soup and buns! If you were staying over on a Sunday morning you woke up to the sounds of the Lutheran Hour and hymns playing, Verna will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Verna was predeceased by her husband Arthur Bauer (2015), her sister Evelyn Giese, baby sister Audrey Ducholke and brothers-in-law Edwin Giese and Terrance Grimm. She is survived by Norman (Joyce) Ducholke of Stony Plain and Bernita Grimm in Yakima, Washington.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 29 ,2025 at 2:00 pm at Mount Calvary Church in Red Deer, AB. (18 Selkirk Blvd., Red Deer, AB.). For those who can’t attend it will be lived streamed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com.
