December 23, 2019
On December 23, 2019 Louise Anne McDonald (nee Bateman) passed away at home at the age of 92. She was our mom, grand-mother, great-grandmother, aunt and most of all our friend—the one who gathered family and friends together at every opportunity for a meal and to make some music. She was pre-deceased by her husband George, to whom she was married for over six decades. They were married in Didsbury and lived there in the home they built together until their deaths.
Everyone who knew Louise benefited from her kindness. As George's partner in McDonald Agencies, she worked until she was 80, and customers loved to come in and chat with her. Over the years she "held the fort" there while George did community service. But most of all, she loved flowers and escaped into her garden at every opportunity. Until the end she could still play piano and sing.
She will be remembered and missed forever by her children Carol (Barry), Craig (Barbara) and Grant (Lorraine) as well as her brother Gerald Bateman (Solange) and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her ashes will be interred with those of her husband at the Didsbury cemetery in a private service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice in her memory.
