1944 – 2024
Mr. Charles Roland Moore of Pine Lake, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the age of 79 years. Charles was born in Innisfail, Alberta on April 21, 1944, the first child of parents Cecil and Lydia Moore of Pine Lake, Alberta. Charles lived and farmed on the
Moore Ranch his entire life. Charles married the love of his life, Janice Harder of Bowden, Alberta on October 12, 1963. They soon were busy raising a young family of three children, twins Roselie and Valerie, and son, Bradley, as they worked on the Moore Ranch alongside Charles’ parents, Cecil and Lydia. Charles loved being a farmer, and excelled at mechanics, welding, and equipment operation and repair. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, along with his nieces and nephews on the Moore Ranch, passing on many of his skills to them.
He was always happiest at large family gatherings at the Moore Ranch, to which many friends and neighbours would also be invited. Charles was a very good athlete, and enjoyed curling, playing hockey, fastball, and slow pitch. In his later years, he coached the Pine Lake Cannons slow pitch team to many victories. Charles was a great community leader. He was a founding director of the Crossroads Gas Coop, serving on the Board of Directors for over 50 years. He was a founding director of the Crossroads Agricultural Society, serving on the Board of Directors for over 40 years. Charles served on the provincial Board of Directors of the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies. On all of these boards he served numerous terms as President. Politics was huge passion of Charles’. He served as director and president of many local Conservative Board of Directors, both provincial and federal, expertly chairing many robust political meetings. Charles served as the sign committee chairperson, organizing teams of volunteers in constructing and erecting large election signs throughout Innisfail and District for over fifty years. In recognition of his outstanding community service, Charles received many awards, including honorary awards from the Alberta Association of Agricultural
Societies and the Alberta Federation of Gas Coops, the Alberta Centennial medal, as well as both the Queen’s Diamond and Platinum Jubilee medals. Charles will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Valerie Domoney of Pine Lake, Alberta; seven grandchildren, Kyle (Kelsey) Domoney, Cassie Domoney, of Red Deer, Trent Domoney of Pine Lake, Lacey Engman (Shawn) of Red Deer, Clenton Engman of Innisfail, Mason Engman of Red Deer, Trevor Engman (Dani) of Penhold, three great-grandchildren, Dixon and Corla Rose Engman of Innisfail, and Hunter Pennell of Red Deer; two sisters, Judy (Earl) Dreeshen and Bonnie (Danny) Langevin, all of Pine Lake; two sister-in-laws, Judy (Bob) Buckler of Vernon, BC; Carol (Ted) Dekkers and one brother-in-law, Vernon Harder, all of Chilliwack, BC; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Lydia Moore; his wife, Janice Moore; daughter, Roselie Engman, son-in-law, Andy Engman; and son, Bradley Moore, all of Pine Lake. Funeral Services will be held at the Crossroads Ag Park, Pine Lake, Alberta on
Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Deacon Claude Baril officiating.
