OLDS – Motorists are being advised by Alberta RCMP to avoid travel on Highway 2 between Leduc and Airdrie due to poor conditions from adverse weather.

RCMP Cpl. Lacey Blair said in a news release that “extremely poor driving conditions” on Nov. 5 has forced a number of motor vehicles in the ditch, as well as multiple collisions on Highway 2 near Olds and Ponoka.

Blair said northbound Highway 2 near Meniak Road is now closed and traffic is being rerouted to Highway 2A.

Blair said anyone wanting to check road conditions go to 511.alberta.ca to get up to date information on Alberta highways.
