Another sponsor has come forward to help cover costs for amenities at the new Rotary Athletic Park of Olds, now under construction along 70th Avenue, just north of the Cornerstone area.

Bill Butler of Edmonton-based Springwood Developments is providing $50,000 toward the park, which will house soccer pitches as well as softball and baseball diamonds.

Springwood Developments created Cornerstone Olds and other residential and commercial initiatives in town.

Construction of the park is expected to be completed late this year and be available for use by the fall of 2019.

The town committed $3 million in its 2017 and 2018 budgets to cover construction costs for the park. Jordan Cleland Consulting was hired to generate sponsorship to cover costs for amenities such as enhanced batting cages, bleachers and concessions at the combined 38.52-acre site. As of last fall, he had raised a total of $673,330 toward that goal.

"Olds has been a great place for us to do business," Butler said in a news release. "We love the forward-looking, big picture thinking of all facets of this community --- its businesses, citizens, council and administration."

Mayor Mike Muzychka is pleased with the way businesses and individuals have stepped forward to help fund amenities for the park.
