Two men are in custody facing pending charges as a result of armed robberies in Olds and Caroline May 27.

The Olds incident involved robbery at knife point. The suspects, from Rocky Mountain House, are also alleged to have discharged a fire extinguisher in a victim's face.

Olds RCMP received a complaint of that an Olds resident had been the victim of an armed robber at the UFA station in the early morning hours of May 27.

"It was reported that two males driving a panel van, which was later learned to be stolen out of Calgary, had robbed the victim at knife point as he was fuelling his vehicle," a news release says.

"The victim was not injured, despite also being subjected to a fire extinguisher being discharged in his face."

The suspects fled in the victim's vehicle, driving toward Sundre.

Surrounding area RCMP detachments were notified with a "Be on the Lookout" bulletin. They were advised not only of a crime having been committed but also of descriptions of vehicles and suspects involved.

A short time later, the truck belonging to the victim was also used in a second armed robbery in Caroline, according to police. The release says that robbery "appears to have been solely for the purposes of obtaining alcohol."

Rocky Mountain House RCMP were conducting patrols for the suspects involved in the Olds incident when they responded to the subsequent robbery complaint.  The vehicle was located while still in the area.

Two suspects that reside in the Rocky Mountain House area were later arrested after having attempting to flee from police.

The investigation continues.
