Next weekend, June 25 and 26, a history book launch and reunion will be held in Torrington.
Saturday's events include a pancake breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m., and 20th anniversary celebrations at the Gopher Hole Museum.
At noon, a parade will be held, with longtime Calgary children's entertainer Buckshot as parade marshall.
The community centre's children's carnival will take place from 1 to 7 p.m.
The Silver Willows Senior Centre will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary. They meet in a former pool hall, one of two buildings in town that date back to the 1930s.
The history book launch will begin at 2 p.m. in the Ron Gorr Memorial Arena on the east end of town. People can purchase the history book and buy a memory stick with school pictures going back to the 1920s if they wish.
Visiting and reminiscing will take place until mid-afternoon in the arena. A historical exhibit with a slide/DVD show will be going and an evening meal will be available.
During the evening, former local musicians will perform.
On Sunday, events will begin again with a pancake breakfast which will run from 9 to 11 a.m.
At 11 a.m., a worship service will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Camping will be available.

Local resident Tim Lasiuta has written a book of his own, The Mystery of Mi-chig-Wun Creek.
He describes it as “a story about Torrington, and in particular, two young friends who go on a journey to find treasure on the local creek. Mi-Chig-Wun is Cree for Kneehill, and in the early 1900s, the area was known by that name.”
