Women aged 50-74 – the age group most at risk of developing breast cancer – will be able to get checked out for the disease right here in Olds later this month.

A mobile mammography trailer will be stationed at the Olds Hospital and Care Centre from Jan. 17-20 and Jan. 22-26.

Women are urged to take advantage of that opportunity by booking an appointment to be screened for breast cancer. To obtain an appointment or to learn more about the program, call 1-800-667-0604.

"A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer. Early detection allows for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival," an Alberta Health Services news release says.
