OLDS — Women ages 50 to 74 -- the group most at risk of developing breast cancer — will be able to be tested for that disease later this month in Olds.
A mobile mammography trailer will be set up at the Olds Hospital and Care Centre March 23-27 and 29.
"A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer. Early detection allows for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival," an Alberta Health Services news release says.
Residents can book an appointment or learn more about the program by calling toll-free 1-800-667-0604.
Due to COVID-19, those operating the screen test are taking a number of precautions to ensure the safety of clients and staff. Details will be shared when callers book an appointment.
