The top 25 bull riders this year in the World Professional Bull Riding Association will be competing at the association's year-end championship this Saturday, Dec. 31 at the Cow Palace.

While it's been held in Lethbridge, Red Deer, Great Falls and Kallispell, Mont., in the past, Olds previously hosted the event in 2009.

The riders will be competing on bulls that they have selected.

This is the culmination of several events on the tour throughout Western Canada during the year.

“It's a great night. People usually are looking for something exciting to do on New Year's Eve. (Here) you get to go to a bull riding (event) and a dance, so you get two in one,” said Ty Northcott, president of the World Professional Bull Riding Association.

Bull-riding action gets underway at 7 p.m. at the Cow Palace, with the dance to follow.
