Olds RCMP dealt with 23 collisions, three vehicle thefts, an allegedly impaired driver and several cases of vehicle vandalism shortly before Christmas.
The latest incident reported occurred on Dec. 18.
Police received a report that an intoxicated woman at Boston Pizza told people she was going to drive her vehicle, despite her condition.
She had just started her vehicle as police arrived on-scene.
The suspect was taken to the Olds RCMP detachment where breath samples were taken. She was found to have more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.
As a result, Cristy Robichaud of Airdrie was charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and Impaired care and control of a motor vehicle over .08.
She is scheduled to appear in Didsbury Provincial Court on those charges on Jan. 19.
During the morning of Dec. 17, Olds RCMP received several complaints of mischief to vehicles, primarily in the northwest area of Olds.
Windows had been smashed out of vehicles and in some cases, someone had rummaged through contents inside those vehicles.
Police found DNA evidence at those scenes. That evidence has been sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis.
ìThe suspect(s) left other evidence behind that has also been seized,î RCMP say, although they do not say what that evidence is.
ìThe investigation is ongoing with no suspects identified at this time,î an RCMP news release says. ìPolice are hopeful that the evidence obtained in this matter will lead to the person(s) responsible.î
On Dec. 15, 16 and 17, Olds detachment RCMP officers visited schools in the area and distributed candy canes to students.
On Dec. 4, Olds RCMP were called to Co-Op card lock in regard to a suspicious male who was reported to be physically sick near the gas pumps. Ambulance personnel also responded.
A 67-year-old man was transported to hospital for what appeared to be cardiac problems.
