Calgary man arrested for multiple offences

Olds RCMP arrested a 46-year-old Calgary man on charges of fraud under $5,000, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained through the commission of an offence, and theft of a motor vehicle.

On Jan. 6, an Olds resident observed a man allegedly put an empty envelope into a bank machine on 50 Avenue.

The concerned resident called the RCMP detachment, said Cpl. Jay Peden.

"A member attended, located the individual a short distance away,î said Peden.

"Subsequent to the arrest, the man was searched and it was discovered that he had a significant amount of marijuana in his backpack.î

The RCMP also found some hash oil.

Through the course of the investigation, the suspect was linked to the theft of a Calgary truck, which had been recovered off Highway 2 and Highway 27 earlier in the week.

"It was determined that he was responsible for the theft of that truck,î said Peden.

Joseph Henry Fish was remanded into custody. He made his first appearance in Didsbury court on Jan. 9, where he was released on his own recognizance. He will be back in Didsbury court on Feb. 6.
