Parents and interested members of the public were given a tour on Thursday evening of the substantially complete Holy Trinity School.
Painting, finishing the floor on the gymnasium and a few other minor details needed to be finished last week on the new 30,000-square foot building, but Blake Krause, the school's principal was expecting those items to be finished within the next week. He said the building inspector and fire inspector were expected to tour the facility and either give it the OK for occupancy or order some changes before occupancy.
“(Last) week we put in our paperwork for our occupancy requirements, meaning that our inspections need to be done. In the next few days we expect the fire inspector, building inspector to come through and do their stuff. If we're OK then we open to the public. If we're not, we make our changes, then we're open to the public, so in the next two weeks, some of the deficiencies … will get fixed up,” he said.
Krause expected by the middle of the month the building would be ready to move into.
“Everything looks good to go,” he said.
One of the unique features of the building is the amount of natural light that will be allowed in, with almost every classroom and hallway having either skylights or windows.
Krause said he expects the expanded facility will help to make what was a close-knit student population even better to work with in the new building.
The school is expecting just over 80 students in September, up a handful from last year.
Other tour dates are scheduled for August 10 and 18.
