Chamber may hold more doubleheaders

The Olds & District Chamber of Commerce's experiment with a "doubleheader," (a breakfast meeting and another one at lunch the same day on the same topic) went well enough that others might be held in the future, officials say.

The Olds and District Chamber of Commerce may hold more “doubleheader” information sessions (sessions on the same topic at breakfast and lunch time).

The Olds & District Chamber of Commerce's experiment with a "doubleheader," (a breakfast meeting and another one at lunch the same day on the same topic) went well enough that others might be held in the future, officials say.

In total, nearly 40 people attended. A handful came out to the breakfast and close to 30 attended the luncheon. Both were held on April 11.

The topic was a pitch for a chamber-sponsored insurance plan.

"We had a good turnout for the event over the two different time frames. We did have greater attendance during the lunch session, but that was expected, after seeing the feedback from our members," chamber president Ben Stone says.

"Our events committee will take a look at the event in greater detail to determine what was successful and what we could have done better, but we will always be open to hosting events that provide value to our members."

Stone says there's a good possibility more such events will be held, depending on the topic.

"We are currently in talks with a couple of people and organizations that we believe will be able to host informative events. So hopefully, we will be able to host another event again in the near future," he says.
