OLDS — If you have winter clothing that you don’t need, Coats For Everyone would like to hear from you.
Each fall and winter, the program, headquartered in the Hope Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene in Olds, collects and provides winter clothing at no charge to between 120 and 160 households in Mountain View County that need it.
Darlene Hyatt, senior pastor at Hope Pointe, says this year, the need is greatest for winter boots for teens and adults, men's winter jackets and men's snow pants.
If you have winter clothing that you can spare – especially the winter wear Hyatt mentioned – organizers would love to receive it.
Donated items can be dropped off at the Hope Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene, located at 5402 - 43rd Street, Olds.
It’s open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for browsing and to receive donations.
If those hours don’t work for donors, they can leave a message at 403-556-8820 and volunteers will try to arrange an alternative time.
This year, the Coats For Everyone has been operating since Oct. 3. In an email, Hyatt said so far, the organization has served more than 30 households.
“With the recent snowfall, the pace is picking up,” she wrote.
“We're so grateful for all the donations of new and gently used jackets and snow pants for all ages. The generosity of our county is always so encouraging,” Hyatt added.
“A particular thank you is extended to Diane Luxen and Marilyn Hunford for organizing and keeping the coat room tidy.”
