OLDS - Olds Protective Services members and RCMP collected $7,368 from the public during the recent annual Fill the Boot Drive-By.

Between 12 and 4 p.m. on Dec. 14, volunteers standing on 65th Avenue held boots out for passing motorists to drop donations into for Olds Christmas Angels and Mountain View Food Bank.

Typically, Olds Christmas Angels provide hampers for nearly 400 children and youth at Christmastime.

Mountain View Food Bank administrator Pat Graham said food and financial insecurity is affecting all stratas of society.

"It’s everybody. Just everybody," she said. “There’s a lot of seniors hurting right now. Yeah, things are just too expensive. Rent has gone up really high."
