OLDS — An event to provide hope for those suffering from depression and suicide is back on.

Called The Conversation Has To Happen, an evening of conversation and hope, it will be held Nov. 23 at at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites, says Andrea Hawiuk, a main organizer.

There’s no charge.

It begins at 5 p.m. A light supper will be provided at 5:30 p.m. and words from two speakers will follow.

One is Fly Fishing Bow River Outfitters operator and former Olds Grizzlys head coach Dana Lattery, who runs a podcast called Fly Fishing Saves Lives.

Lattery underwent a bout of depression after suffering an injury while playing professional hockey and eventually found himself out of the game.

Also speaking is Petra Schultz of Edmonton, one of three women who founded the organization Moms Stop The Harm in 2016 after they lost their sons from accidental drug overdoses or suicide.

To register, contact Meryl Matchullis via email at [email protected] or phone 403-556-5871.

The deadline to register is Nov. 16.
