Council set two special meetings to review its 2016 budgets.

The first one took place yesterday (Monday, Nov. 30). The second will be held next Monday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m.

On Nov. 23, the town tabled its interim 2016 operating and capital budgets.

It is also undergoing a service level review that will last until the spring.

Aside from new utility rates that take effect on Jan. 1, the interim 2016 operating budget is the same as the 2015 one, said chief administrative officer Norm McInnis.

One such change is an increased base rate for wastewater, to $13.55 per month from $10.42. The variable commercial rate would increase to $4.74 per cubic metre and $4.30 for residential.

Council will discuss the town's 10-year capital plan at the special meetings.

“There are a lot of projects in there that quite frankly, we're not going to be able to do it all. We're going to have to prioritize what our capital priorities are,” McInnis said.
