Olds town council has proclaimed several events that will take place in  Olds.

Council proclaimed the month of May as Fair Trade Month.

Fair Trade Month is claimed by proponents to be the biggest time of the year where leaders, businesses, schools and many others celebrate everything fair trade, from products to the farmers and employees that we work with.

May 20-26 has been proclaimed as Public Works Week in the town at the request of the Alberta Public Works Association (APWA).

This year marks the 58th year of municipalities hosting and promoting the week. This year’s theme will be "The Power of Public Works."

Additionally, each year in September Olds public works employees enter into an "equipment roadeo" that is put on by APWA. Olds came in second out of 17 teams in 2017.

Also, June 2 will be National Health and Fitness Day.

The objective behind it is to reduce health-care costs attributed to preventable diseases by inspiring Canadians to become more active.

June 3-9 has been proclaimed as Senior Week.

This is the ninth year Olds has supported the Alberta Seniors Advisory Council with senior week.

The kickoff event hosted by the town will take place on June 4 with a pancake breakfast at the Evergreen Centre.

Other activities will take place at the Olds Aquatic Centre, the Mountain View Museum and Mount View Lodge, where the annual basket auction will be held.
