OLDS - There is no longer a COVID-19 outbreak at Olds Hospital and Care Centre, according to the latest update from Alberta Health Services (AHS).

"An outbreak declared on one unit on November 6, 2023 is now over," the health authority reported in the Tuesday, Nov. 21 acute care outbreak update.

As of Tuesday, Nov. 14, five patients had tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of two since the last update was issued on Nov. 7.

Two care workers also tested positive as of the Nov. 14 update.

Outbreak control measures were implemented on the affected unit, says AHS.

Any patient with symptoms, or who tested positive for COVID-19, was isolated and treated in designated rooms.

As with all outbreaks, at-risk patients on the unit had been tested according to AHS guidelines and contact tracing for patients and health-care workers potentially exposed to the individuals was conducted.
