OLDS - The COVID-19 outbreak at Olds Hospital and Care Centre has grown since first being declared, according to Alberta Health Services (AHS).

As of Tuesday, Nov. 14, five patients had tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of two since the last update was issued on Nov. 7.

Two care workers have also tested positive.

An outbreak was declared on one unit at Olds Hospital and Care Centre on Nov. 6.

Outbreak control measures have been implemented on the affected unit, says AHS.

Any patient with symptoms, or who has tested positive for COVID-19, is isolated and treated in designated rooms.

As with all outbreaks, at-risk patients on the unit have been tested according to AHS guidelines. Contact tracing for patients and health-care workers potentially exposed to these individuals is ongoing.

Visitation restrictions are in place to minimize risk of transmission to and from outside of the hospital.
