The Community Learning Campus fitness centre will be hosting a demonstration day in Centennial Park on Sept. 12 in order to introduce the community to all the offerings that are available this fall. It will be going from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The day will include yoga, step and zumba classes, as well as street hockey, basketball and beach volleyball. There will also be face-painting and kids' activities.
Brittany Ehmann, CLC fitness centre programmer, said the centre wants to build on its inaugural year last year.
“This year, we're looking at continuing that growth in our recreational offerings. Demo day is really that opportunity to reach out to our community, extend the CLC fitness centre to them, give them opportunity to take part in the demo day for free … have some fun … and really see what our fitness centre can offer them. We really appreciate our community involvement in our fitness centre and we like to do as much as possible to be involved and give back,” she said.
“We learned a lot from last year and we've taken that information and feedback and used it to continue to grow, offer more programming to different demographics. This is really a community facility and we want to … provide opportunities for everybody,” Ehmann said.
The fitness centre is also focusing attention toward specific demographics of the population such as seniors, promoting the track, gym and various programs as a way to stay healthy and “to give them an opportunity to be in a structured fitness environment.”
The fitness centre is also accepting registration for various classes, which will be kicking off on Sept. 19.
