Distracted driving appears to be a problem in Olds, according to RCMP.
On July 4, Olds RCMP laid seven distracted driving charges in just under two hours during a "traffic enforcement operation" on Highway 27 in town.
"I'd suggest that many charges within a two-hour period at the same location is significant," Cpl. Courtney Harding says.
"This tells me distracted driving continues to be a concern within the community of Olds, and continued education and enforcement initiatives on distracted driving are needed."
Harding says those charged are alleged to have been speaking on the phone (or at least had it up to their ear), or were texting, or changing music on their phones.
