OLDS — Tim Hortons is partnering with Special Olympics Canada to raise funds for that organization via the sale of a specially-created doughnut.

That limited edition treat, called the Special Olympics doughnut, will be available for purchase from Feb. 3-5.

A Tim Hortons news release says “100 per cent of the proceeds from sales of the doughnut will go directly to local Special Olympics community programs, supporting thousands of athletes with an intellectual disability across Canada.”

Karen Mengersen, chair of Olds & District Special Olympics, is hopeful many local residents will buy the donuts.

Customers can also participate in the restaurant’s #ChoosetoInclude social media photo challenge for a chance to win a $20 TimCard. One winner from each province will be selected.

The news release noted that Tim Hortons has hired “many individuals with an intellectual disability at restaurants across the country, including many Special Olympics athletes.”
