Extreme cold warning in effect for Central Alberta Sunday night, Monday

OLDS - Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning Sunday for the Airdrie - Cochrane - Olds - Sundre area as well as Red Deer - Ponoka - Innisfail - Stettler area.

Extremely cold wind chills near -40 (C) are expected overnight and early Monday morning, the federal agency's warning states.

"Temperatures will moderate on Monday, but extreme cold may return Monday night. Temperatures will moderate more substantially on Tuesday," the warning

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk, the waring went on to say.

"Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant. If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside."
