Organizers of the fourth annual Festival of Trees are looking for individuals and businesses to buy trees to donate to organizations such as the Olds Legion, seniors' lodges or other groups.
“There's certain places where they can use a tree, but they don't really have the money to buy it themselves,” said Bonnie Giles, co-chair of the Festival of Trees.
This year's festival will be taking place on Friday and Saturday.
Public viewing of the trees is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday and noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Entertainment and refreshments on Saturday will be provided by Olds High School.
There will be a total of 13 trees decorated in various themes at the event this year. Setup for those trees will be taking place on Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. Delivery of the sold trees will take place Sunday morning, following the event.
The festive social and tree auction will also be taking place on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. Ross Dabrusin, director of the community chorus, will be playing the piano during portions of the event.
Proceeds from the event go toward the Olds Fashioned Christmas committee and the TransCanada Theatre to purchase needed equipment for the facility.
