OLDS – Saturday is shaping up to be a community-wide Christmas celebration minus the winter wonderland.
Temperatures are forecast to be about -9C when the Santa Claus Parade of Lights kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 2.
Parade entries line up on 53rd Street by Ecole Olds Elementary School, then travel north on 53rd Avenue, east on 50th Street, south on 50th Avenue then west on 54th Street.
Santa will lead the parade which finishes at the Olds Regional Exhibition’s Cow Palace.
Prior to the parade from 2:30 – 5:30, there will be free events in Centennial Park. There will be visits with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, a live nativity, hot dogs, hot cocoa, cookies, Oliver Olds Scavenger Hunt, games, and horse and wagon rides.
Fireworks, set up to the south of OR Hedges ball diamonds, will follow the parade at 6:30 p.m. The viewing area for the fireworks will be along 54th Street in front of Centennial Park and the Cow Palace.
