OLDS — Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that completely destroyed a vacant home south of Olds.
The fire -- which completely engulfed a vacant, single storey, detached home at 32322 Highway 2A in Mountain View County -- was reported by a nearby resident on the morning of Nov. 13.
There were no injuries as a result of the blaze.
Firefighters got the call at 7:28 a.m.
Upon arrival, crews found a fully involved, single storey detached home fully engulfed in flames.
“A defensive fire attack was initiated to prevent the spread of fire to an adjacent structure,” a news release from the Olds Fire Department says.
Firefighters from Olds, Didsbury and Carstairs were called in to help.
High-capacity tender trucks, recently purchased by Mountain View County, were used to ferry water.
“These units provided a new advantage to firefighters to have the increased water available early in the fire attack,” the release said.
However, despite rapid response to the blaze and all the water from those trucks, the home was declared to be a complete loss.
Olds firefighters are grateful for the help they received from Didsbury and Carstairs firefights as well as from ambulance crews that responded.
They're also thankful for the neighbour who reported the fire.
