OLDS — Firefighters responded to several grass fires on Friday, Sept. 9 along Highway 27, about 13 kilometres east of Olds.

The Olds Fire Department gave an update on social media saying the blazes were caused by a load of straw burning while being towed between Rge. Rd. 284 and Rge. Rd. 283.

“The operator was able to safely pull off the highway and disconnect the tractor on Rge. Rd. 284. The trailer and contents were a complete loss,” the department stated.
