OLDS - Foggy conditions in the Airdrie-Cochrane-Olds-Sundre area are expected to improve throughout the day Wednesday, after Environment Canada issued an advisory earlier this morning for many parts of the province.
"Dense fog patches are leading to near zero visibility over some areas," reads the federal agency's Jan. 3 statement issued at 4:40 a.m for the Airdrie-Cochrane-Olds-Sundre area.
The same statement was issued for much of the southern area of the province at the same time, as well as for communities in central Alberta, and northern Alberta including Edmonton, Edson and Grand Prairie, with the advisory ending near the B.C. border in the north.
While conditions have been improving, Environment Canada says it will likely reform early this evening in some locations.
"Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop," the advisory concludes.
