OLDS — Coun. Wanda Blatz has suggested that because this year is an election year, councillors should write down procedures and advice for incoming councillors.
That advice and those procedures would then be compiled into a handbook that could be distributed to veteran and new councillors alike.
Blatz made that suggestion during a council meeting in January.
“I know that a handbook that’s coming forward from us will be a valuable tool for the current council as well as any future council,” Blatz said.
“Excellent idea, councillor Blatz. Thank you for making that,” Mayor Michael Muzychka said.
This year’s election will be held Oct. 18 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105.
All seven seats in council will be up for grabs, including for mayor.
Those planning to run for any of those seats have until Sept. 17 and again on Sept. 20 to file nomination papers.
