The development of 37 residential parcels of land in the Highlands, including the future development of about 14 duplex units, is now a step closer to reality.

After a public hearing, council passed a couple of bylaws regarding the Area Structure Plan (ASP) of the Highlands, involving phases 6 and 6a of development.

The sixth phase pertains to the north portion of Williams Avenue; 6a on the other hand consists of the portion of land adjacent to the west boundary of the school parcel.

Council agreed to re-designate a 3.50-hectare (8.65-acre) portion of land from urban reserve to general residential.

An .83-hectare (2.05-acre) portion of land has been re-designated from urban reserve to general residential as a part of Phase 6a.

Phase 6a was initially intended to be a part of Phase 8 in the ASP.
